Dutch coffee brand Douwe Egberts has gone viral on social media with its heartwarming new commercial, which shares a wholesome new depiction of what 'coming out' to your parents can look like.
The campaign, which is titled “Something to Share” and was created by Belgian advertising agency shows a teenage girl sneaking home with her unidentifiable partner, where they fool around a bit and make-out on the couch.
However, their passionate afternoon is spoiled when the girl's dad unexpectedly arrives home, forcing the pair to retreat to a bedroom upstairs.
That's when the dad heads to the kitchen and starts making coffee, producing a fragrance so irresistible that even someone firmly in the figurative closet would come out for a cup.
As the teenage girl comes downstairs and her partner removes her hoodie, it's revealed that the partner is indeed another girl.
And the best part? The dad's totally unbothered by it
"Did I just cry over a coffee ad?" One social media user tweeted.
Actress, model and activist Jameela Jamil also shared the commercial, captioning it with some love-heart emojis.
“Coffee is at the heart of life," the reads. "It is with us at the big moments and the small.”
Their mission statement continues: “Jacobs Douwe Egberts celebrates life beyond the beverage, putting the coffee cup at the centre of the conversation, wherever in the world it takes place… Everyone should be free to enjoy their coffee, their way.”
