A trans man has made history this week after being crowned Mr. Gay Denmark for 2018.
It's the first time a trans man has won the title in the competition's 17-year history.
For the "poster" portion of the competition, 44-year-old Niels Jansen decided to pose naked, explaining that it was important in his journey to embracing his body and overcoming mental health issues.
“The process [of self-acceptance] has been long and draining for me,” he revealed to the pageant's judging panel.
He added: “I have chosen to make myself vulnerable and have received nothing but support from my fellow contestants and from the organisers.”
“There are lots of ways to be a man, and there are lots of ways to be a gay man,” Jansen said following his win.
He continued: “And we are all valid and worthy of respect and love.”
Earlier this week Australian reality TV contestant Jordan Bruno took out the title of Mr. Gay World in South Africa.
