Watch out influencers, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are coming for your likes!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have launched their own Instagram account, weeks before Markle is expected to give birth to their first child. The news was first shared via the Royal Family's official account, , which has over 7 million followers.

“Welcome to our official Instagram," Markle and Prince Harry's read.

"We look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal."

Likely stoked on the free publicity, Instagram replied: "Ummm... hello! Welcome ❤️ We are so happy you are here."

In just one day, the couple's account already has over 1.6 million followers - while they follow just 23.
So, what can we expect from the young royals' Instagram feed?

#RoyalBaby

I don't care what you say, there's no such thing as too much baby spam - and this is particularly true of Royal baby spam. With Markle and Prince Harry's first baby due any week now, social media users will no doubt be hanging out for their first look at the bub.

Whether or not the couple's unprecedented Instagram presence will serve as platform for a non-traditional birth announcement remains to be seen, but, considering the account's curious timing, we wouldn't count it out!

#Fashion

It's no secret that members of the fashion world have their eyes glued on Markle's every ensemble. The Duchess has for her fashion choices, with particular interest paid to her arm-baring, one-shouldered black velvet Givenchy dress at last year's British Fashion Awards. Given the nature of social media advertising, high-end designers will likely be clambering to have their pieces showcased on her new IG feed.

But will Markle tag designers? Will she hashtag? Where is the line drawn? SO MANY QUESTIONS!

#TodaysOffice

Part of the reason behind the Duke and Duchess creating an Instagram account is likely to keep up with the times and maintain a connection with the British people. In other words - they need to stay relevant in a fast-paced, increasingly digital social economy. So, will we get a unique insight into the couple's day-to-day work, jobs and commitments?

Whatever the future of their Instagram account holds, it definitely marks a turning point for how the couple engages with the public - and all eyes will be on every post.
