What would you take with you if you had to flee your country?

Australians share what they would take with them if they were forced to flee their home and seek asylum.

If you were fleeing your country following persecution, what would you take with you? It's a confronting question that fortunately, not many of us will ever have to face. However for the some of the world's , it's something they have to consider, often with no time to prepare.

SBS Life asked everyday Australians what they would take if they had to flee their country from persecution and the answers varied, from the practical to the sentimental. While some would take nothing but their family and loved ones, others said important documents such as passports and identify. Photographs and water were also high on the list, as were stories from home.
