For two die-hard Harry Potter fans, Halloween has taken on a special new meaning.
In an elaborate Potter-themed treasure hunt, Portland-based Heather Pearson proposed to her longtime girlfriend, Kelsey Stacy, paying tribute to the couple's shared love for the magical franchise.
The proposal had “been in the works for about a year".
“Kelsey and I went to Harry Potter World on our first anniversary, we love Harry Potter, all the movies and all the books," Pearson explained in a video posted to social media.
“Growing up I never pictured what my life would look like, but when I met Kelsey, [I knew] that this is it.”
Pearson admitted that she'd enlisted her girlfriend's help to plan a Harry Potter themed party around the Halloween period.
"Little did she know, she was planning her own engagement party as well!” Pearson said.
Dressed up as proud Slytherins Draco and Astoria Malfoy, the happy couple's engagement soon won the attention of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who tweeted them a big "CONGRATULATIONS".
