It's official! SBS's own Eyes On Gilead is Australia's best fan podcast!

As great as we think it is, The Handmaid's Tale is a tough watch. Each week viewers are confronted with a dark, all-too-possible future that isn't the easiest TV show to digest. Knowing that, was born. It is a weekly podcast produced by SBS that helps unpack what happens on the show every episode, with insight from a devoted group of superfans of the show. 

The Handmaid's Tale fans, the world over, love it. As soon as the podcast started last year, we were inundated with positive emails and Facebook/Twitter messages from listeners. Eyes On Gilead hosts Fiona, Sana, Natalie, and Haidee were all thrilled by the positive response - it was great to find out that people were as taken with The Handmaid's Tale as they are.

But it wasn't just the fans of the show that were listening - the local Australian podcast industry was paying attention too. On Saturday night at the , the team behind Eyes On Gilead was awarded the Australia's Best Fancast.

The Australian Podcast Awards is Australia's highest-profile event celebrating the local podcasting industry. This years event was its third, held at Sydney's Seymour Centre. In an other win for SBS, the popular won Best Sport & Recreation podcast.

If you haven't yet listened to Eyes On Gilead, you can find the podcast available to download or stream via your favourite podcast apps and here at the . It's not only a great deep dive into the detail of specific episodes and plot points of The Handmaid's Tale, but it features in-depth interviews with actors and behind the scenes and talent from the show including director , showrunner , and series star . Yes, Aunt Lydia herself sat down for an extended interview for our season finale in 2018 in an Australian exclusive.
The great news is that the podcast will be back this year when The Handmaid's Tale returns back to SBS. Eyes On Gilead will launch with a preview on May 28, before returning with regular episodes on Thursday June 6 to dissect the premiere of the long-awaited season three of The Handmaid's Tale. In a coup for Eyes On Gilead, many more of the show's major stars will join the podcast in 2019.
