SBS On Demand heats up August

At this stage it isn't much of a secret that SBS On Demand has become the go-to destination for great local and international drama series. Throughout July, viewers have been going crazy for the Tom Hardy period drama , the great new Rachel Griffiths Aussie drama , and Scandi drama (starring Borgen's Birgitte Hjort Sørensen). August is set to be another great month for sitting in front of your screen, rugged up with SBS On Demand set to get you through the final month of Winter.

The Bridge

Right now you can stream the third and fourth seasons of The Bridge at SBS On Demand. Season three starts with the murder of a famous Danish gender activist and owner of Copenhagen’s first gender-neutral children's nursery. Saga is forced to work with a new Danish colleague, who has difficulties in accepting Saga for who she is. Season four is set two years after, starting with the discovery of a woman who was brutally murdered on Pepparholm Island at the base of the bridge. 

If you still haven't seen The Bridge, the good news is that from 23 August, you will be able to stream all four seasons of the globally lauded Danish/Swedish drama series. Season 3 airs weekly, with new episodes every Thursday.

Versailles

Sex, spying and political intrigue -  focuses on the coming of age of King Louis XIV as he evolves from a young King into an absolute monarch, a 17th century rock star with the mind of Machiavelli. The full third (and final) season of Versailles is streaming now:

Wellington Paranormal

The first two episodes of this hilarious new comedy from New Zealand are streaming right now at SBS On Demand. In the first episode, join NZ's finest Minogue and O’Leary who, on a routine night face off against a projectile-vomiting drunk teenager/boddy-hopping demon. The evening culminates in the gates of hell itself being opened in Wellington’s bucket fountain. New episodes will be added each week following airing on SBS VICELAND Tuesday nights.

The Son

Based on the 2013 novel by Phillipp Meyer, The Son is an sweeping family drama starring Pierce Brosnan as Texan rancher Eli McCullough. The ten-episode series traces his family across 150 years and three generations, focusing on Eli's transformation from hard-working family-man to a paranoid, calculating killer. The entire first season is streaming now.

Vitamania

Dr Derek Muller takes us on an epic journey to uncover why scientists disagree on the effectiveness and safety of these products, while also investigating what exactly a vitamin is and what we actually know about them. What he uncovers will confound opinions on all sides.

Nox

Retired Cop Catherine is forced back into action when her daughter Julie disappears into the city's sewers. Aided by Julie's partner Raphaël, Catherine must chase every clue and use all her instincts to find her daughter, navigating this hellish maze deep beneath Paris. This thrilling event series is available to stream at SBS On Demand from 16 August.

Deep State

Set in Britain, The U.S., Iran, Lebanon and France; the spy drama shows the merciless reality of the world of espionage, in which an increasingly rare conscience can get you, and the ones you love, killed.

Mark Strong stars as Max Easton, an ex-spy whose past comes back to haunt him as he returns to the field to avenge the death of his son Harry. Max soon discovers there is much more at stake, as he finds himself at the heart of a covert intelligence war and immersed in a widespread conspiracy to profit from the spread of chaos in the Middle East. Max enters into a very dangerous game, as powerful corporations show that they are willing to do anything to preserve their reputation and bury their secrets.

Australian director Robert Connelly (Balibo, The Slap) directs the first four episodes of this great eight-part drama. New episodes will be available to stream weekly at SBS On Demand from 22 August.
