This six-part documentary series chronicles the struggle for LGBTQ+ civil rights in America from the 1950s through the 2000s. Seven renowned LGBTQ+ directors explore heroic and heartbreaking stories that define America as a nation. The limited series spans the FBI surveillance during the 1950s Lavender Scare to the “Culture Wars” of the 1990s and beyond, exploring the queer legacy of the Civil Rights movement and the battle over marriage equality.

Pride premieres Saturday 1 June on SBS On Demand.

News headlines constantly tell us our public health system and its workers are at breaking point. But what’s it really like to work on the hospital frontline?

In this ground-breaking series three high-profile Australians with a unique connection to the health system go beyond the headlines to find out. Host of Gardening Australia Costa Georgiadis, food writer and TV host Melissa Leong, and actor Samuel Johnson are thrown out of their comfort zones and onto St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney’s frontline.

The Hospital: In The Deep End sees Costa, Melissa and Sam put to work for a week at one of the country’s busiest and most well-known hospitals. From drug and alcohol treatment, heart transplants, mental health wards and brain surgery, nothing is off limits. Costa, Melissa and Sam will meet hospital staff at their most capable and patients at their most vulnerable. The pressures are intense, the outcomes at times uncertain, and the care factor is turned up high.

From executive producers John Leguizamo and Aram Rappaport comes an 8 episode drama series that follows a government agent Gordon Rogers in the 1950s. Rogers attempts to save an unravelling secret mission that threatens to reveal an unthinkable conspiracy. John Leguizamo (in his first ever leading role in a TV series) stars as Rogers, an immigrant who came into the US as a child and dedicated his life to achieving the American Dream. He experiences both an insidious obsession with that dream, and the societal limitations to it placed upon certain groups.

Co-Executive Producers Irene Bedard and Melissa Tantaquidgeon Zobel (of the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut) serve as creative and Native American consultants on the series.

The Green Veil season 1 premieres Thursday 6 June with double episodes airing weekly on NITV from 8:30PM. Episodes will be available to stream on SBS On Demand the same time as broadcast.

The men’s event will be shown exclusively on SBS from June 29, followed after a short Olympics-enforced break by the third edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, available live and free to SBS audiences from August 12.
