Two bodies recovered at a beach in Sydney

23-year-old Srishti Bhandari’s body was recovered at Maroubra beach in Sydney at about 6am on Tuesday morning.

Her body was found after it washed up at the beach and was noticed by a jogger who alerted emergency services.

Police then learnt that she was at the beach on Monday night with 26-year-old Sudeep Uperty, who was missing.

A search operation was undertaken by Lifeguards, police and Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopters, The reported.   

Three days later, on Thursday morning, police found a body wedged under the rocks in Mahon Pool, Maroubra. The body is yet to be identified formally but it is believed to be a man who went missing on Monday night at Mahon Pool in Maroubra.

Srishti's death is believed to be caused by drowning. Her body was recovered fully clothed and it is believed the pair may have been swept away by strong waves, reported.

Ms Bhandari is believed to be a Nepalese national who had just arrived in Sydney two weeks back to pursue Masters in Accounting at University of New South Wales in Sydney. Mr. Uperty’s details are still awaited.

A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to raise funds for repatriating Ms Bhandari's mortal remains to Nepal.
